With the advantage of being reduced to a minimum without being devoid of features and highly optimized, VirtualDub captures and process video with ease.

VirtualDub is a flexible utility software developed to capture and video processing.

It handles a large number of files and can also be extended with additional filters. VirtualDub is mainly geared toward processing AVI files, although it can read MPEG- 1 and also can handle sets of BMP images.

The software have many interesting functions such as: optimized disk for optimal use of the hard disk drive, create AVI2 files (OpenDML) to bypass the limitation of 2GB AVI files (it can also create multiple files , not be limited to 4GB by the FAT32 file system), volume measurement and integrated monitoring input levels histogram, scaling and noise reduction in real time, monitoring of levels of compression, the CPU usage and the available space on the hard disk, access hidden video formats that the capture card may support but that user can not acces, such as 352x480 format, djust frame rate, decimate frames, and 3:2 pulldown removal.
